Yokohama Waterfront

Since on my first trip to Yokohama I got rained out of the harbor area, it was time to go back and visit the waterfront once more. The area has many European-style buildings.
The Hikawa Maru is a Japanese ocean liner that made its maiden voyage in 1929. It was often referred to as the Queen of the Pacific, and made crossings between Seattle and Vancouver. It was famous for splendid food and amazing art deco interiors, and hosted celebrities the likes of Charlie Chaplin and Kano Jigoro (founder of Judo).
The first class dining hall.
Favorite hang-out place for socialites.
First class (private quarters) sitting area...
... and sleeping area.
The third class quarters were below deck and a sharp contrast between the first class quarters. Here, 4-6 people slept in half the space that was occupied by one passenger in first class.
Cap'n Rick ready to sail!
Tighten the valves! HURRY!!!
Back on land we encountered a panda shop...
... with a panda cafe upstairs. I made a new friend; he told me about his rough day at work.
The harbor front was even prettier at night, when all the lights were on. The constantly changing lights on the Ferris wheel were so much fun to look at, and at times, the whole wheel transformed into a giant clock.
